There are many poor and needy families who are genuinely in need of support for their children as they are not able to fully look after their children and provide them with a basic minimum level of health, nutrition and education. Most of the parents are jobless.  However, most of them try to make a living by selling eatables on the road to the tourists and passersby.

Poor and Elderly Welfare
The Tibetan Welfare Office (TWO) provides financial assistance to the poor and destitute among Tibetans to alleviate their sufferings and hardships. Currently, it provides subsistence allowance to 170 people. Most of these beneficiaries are infirm & elderly with no relatives or children to look after them.

Social Work
The Tibetan Welfare Office provides emergency assistance to patients who find it difficult to travel long distances to hospitals because of physical disabilities or poverty. Besides assistance for newly arrived refugees is provided. In rare cases, depending upon the availability of funds, the Tibetan Welfare Office tries to give financial assistance to travellers who have lost their money and luggage.

Youth Empowerment
Due to the situation of the Tibetan in exile, and specially, there is better opportunity for the modern education to the Tibetan youths, every year the number of graduated students and school drop outs youths are increasing and still growing in the community. It is a pressing problem for them to find a job in accordance with their aspiration. Because of these problems, the unemployment issue is rising in our community. Specially most of the youths belongs to the poor families resulted into indulge in social hazards, and using drugs of various types causing serious problems to the individual, family and the community.

Intercultural Cooperation

In order to foster harmony between Tibetans, local Indians and other communities, the Tibetan Welfare Office (TWO) organizes kids inter-cultural shows, festivals and community work with them. The Tibetan Welfare Office also organizes Joint Community meetings where all communities discuss solutions for improving the relationships between the communities.

Stray Dog project

In late 1990’s, the problem of rabies in the community of Mcleod Ganj and Lower Dharamsala has been an urgent concern. Tibetan Welfare Office (TWO) and several individuals have attempted to address the issue with the limited vaccination programmes but it had no any lasting effects to the health of the community.
