The Environmental Education Project (EEP) is a project of the Tibetan Welfare Office in cooperation with the Austrian Youth Red Cross and the Austrian Service Abroad. ![]() In 1994 theĀ Clean Upper Dharamsala Project (CUDP) was setup with the aim of improving the local environment and bringing about greater knowledge of such issues as waste management and environmental awareness. The EEP aims to expand the CUDP by developing a system based on long-term goals and objectives, focusing on various groups in the local community. We intend to address this using a system of three stages. The initial step is to create a dialogue and exchange program between children in Dharamsala and Austria with the aim of establishing cross-border communication and to bring about awareness of each culture and their waste management perspectives. Stage two began in August 2007. The main focus is to improve the Environmental Education Center by installing a professional exhibition and showing documentaries on the work and success of the TWO projects to gain public awareness and support. At the same time we provide weekly environmental education and guided tours through the segregation center, recycled paper factory and bookbinding workshop. Finally, the primary objective of stage three is to compile all of the knowledge and expertise established from the previous stages and to expand to the surrounding villages. ![]() Heinz Ganser; Miss Yangla; Misses Nima Dolma Project manager; Headmaster; English teacher of TCV Dayschool |
